The Nationam Memorial Arboretum

Today has been a special one,
It has been a great one,
Today we remembered the people in war,
It’s so interesting I want to know more,
It was an amazing site,
It gives you plenty of might,
I am sad and also happy,
I found a relative,
I have much more to give,
But now I have to end,
With much more to send.

Luke
Memories

Memorials everywhere in this site
Mainly about the war,
Soldiers who have died have their names on the Wall
A lot of trees around with memories on,
Death Railway is near the museum,
This site is happy and sad at the same time.

Jack F.
The Soldiers

The Soldiers that have died, for us were very brave,
They did it so our lives could last.
The thought of it brings sadness to my heart,
But knowing they did this for me brings pride.
Thank you for saving us!

James Place

The Arboretum Rhyme

The golden point points towards the Sun,
Being in the maize is lots of fun.
Come and read all the names,
Some are in big or little frames.
I had a brilliant day,
At the end in the grass I lay.
Come to see this site,
And see the Soldiers who died in a fight.

Annabel May Tuckey
National Memorial Arboretum

Memories are never far away,
If you can come to the Prisoner of War Museum.
There was a helicopter flying above and we wrote a poem of memories,
To give to you and me.
A little hint I’m going to give,
Is to have fun and enjoy the day.
And when you go home, never say,
It’s been a bad day – always say Hooray!

Zachary

How Would I have coped?

How would I have coped?
With all that hate
All the cruelty
We remember them today,
Tomorrow and forever
We will remember all who fought in the wars.

Eleanor

SANDS Garden

I feel sad that babies have died in the SANDS
I feel allowed to remember them.
In the SANDS there are rocks with baby’s names on,
I feel ashamed at how cruel people can be killing people,
Especially from England.

In the SANDS there is a fake pond,
It is a quiet place to stay in the SANDS.
In the middle there is a baby with poppies around it and a cross with a babies name on it,
I want to stay all day – it’s a lovely place to stay and be.

Matthew Smith

The Deadly Past

We are here to remember,
To live in the Deadly Past,
Egypt
Italy
Germany
The lives of our saviours’ past.

Oliver E. Godfrey

Peace in the War

Death is sad,
But when there’s no war everyone’s happy.
I don’t know how they coped,
How they managed,
But somehow they did.
Many loved ones died,
The war was full of sorrow.

Memorial Arboretum

We have memories of the past,
That are here to last,
In this beautiful place,
We feel sadness in our hearts,
So memories are here for us.

Thomas Hicks

Peaceful

Peaceful people walk about laying down flowers,
And now they are living soon to be dying.
We came to remember the ones, who horribly died,
We can see statues that all tell a story.
The story saying we are the people,
Who fought for the country you live in today.

What I see

I see Joseph MJ on the wall
I see Ryan MJ on there too
I see big cream wall
I see a rocky floor
I see red and black poppies
I see carved names on the wall
I see big black statues
I see lovely green grass
I see beautiful white pebbles
The Eleventh hour, eleventh day, eleventh month,
Rest in Peace.

Rolling Down

Rolling down a slope, walking up the steps,
To see the carvings on the wall,
Names of the soldiers who fought in the wars.

Weaving with the willow,
Making a big wreath of leaves,
Will we remember this day forever and ever?

Ryan
Peace and Respect

If I got shot I would suffer just like them,
Some of them died and some of them survived.
I would be terrified if I was in the war,
Just like them but they still did it.
They risked their lives for us,
To keep us alive.
That is why we come here to remember relatives,
And hope they will Rest in Peace.

Rosie
Memories

People who have died,
Their memories lie here.
It is sad but joyful,
Laughs and cries.
How they could have coped we do not know,
The memories of loved ones, the memories of friends,
We have all been through it, we learn to be strong,
Their love and memoires lie in our hearts,
Forever long.

A soldier willing to give his life

Running wildly from the bombs

Babies died before they were born

Oh soldiers we will remember you

Remember them always

Everyone remember the soldiers who died

Today, everyday, we will remember you

United in our gratitude

Messages from the soldier’s family

The National Memorial Arboretum

Here we are at the National Memorial Arboretum,
We see trees and gardens - it is such a big site.
There is a wall that soldiers names are carved into,
In the site there is a maze.
Today is breezy but a sunny day, statues of history,
I will always remember this day!

This Place

This place reminds you of Soldiers death,
Young, old, any counts.
It might bring a tear to your eye,
But happiness of joyful times.
The SANDS and the Maze, there are so many trees.
It’s a lovely place to be.
You think about death, but happiness,
This is where you remember people.

Jessica Brennan
Memorial

Here I am at the Arboretum, where people suffered in war.
I feel happiness, but memorable, at the same time,
If it was me I wouldn’t have coped.
This is where trees grow and people are remembered.

Soldiers

The soldiers have died,
So we have lived.
We have lived,
So the soldiers have lived in heaven.

Lewis
Memory

When someone you love becomes a memory,
The memory becomes a treasure.

Soldiers have risked their lives for us,
And some have died.

Jack Hamill
Memorial Day

We came to the memorial today,
To read what their families say.
We then had a play, we want to stay.
That’s some of our memorial day.

Ben Boden
Memorial

This reminds me about my Uncle who died in the Royal Navy.
It is a brilliant place to be remembered too.
It is an amazing place, very peaceful too.

What if this was me?

What about if this was me?
Getting shot in the leg or being killed by a bomber.
What about if this was me, got killed by a sniper?
Dead forever.
What about if this was me?

Michael C.
My Poem

We came to remember, we came to learn.
We came today to have a play.
It is sad, the wars are very bad.
Some are a little bit happy,
When they end up bringing peace.

Enjoys
Winning the war.

Like I enjoy
Going
Home
To be protected and safe.

Peace

Smile, cry, babies die, soldiers die, for our life.
Here we stand, love in out hand.

Little memories, so delicate, flowers, names,
At the National Memorial Arboretum, we remember.
